Why do we actually watch horror films?

Females - Can show vulnerability or strength. (Example: When watching a horror film with a boy to receive attention because theoretically, the male should protect the girl.) Other wise, it can also be used to show strength and that women can show and have the same type of power as men.
Males - Men normally use horror films to test their so called 'masculinity' and strength.
Psychological - Fear from films are controlled by the Amygdala in the brain. This part of the brain is where it senses fear.
Physiological - The physical feeling of fear which is a surge of adrenaline. This is what causes the fight or flight response
