Garage Band

I use garage band to create an introduction to our horror supernatural film. The use of the scary, distorted sounds on loop. I moved around different sound loops so then they would overlap and create an effect to the opening set up of the film, potentially panning along to the location of our main filming setting. This panning combined with this introductory to emphasise the location being abandoned.

I used 3 fusion electric piano loops, this was because it created a confused intro and I feel it would really set the scene well. This is because the electrical element makes it seem un-normal and disfunctional. The use of the small child giggle makes it seem very cyclical because a child is seen as a very innocent person. One of the main conventions of a horror film is targeting young children just like the one within the introductory music track.

Within this garage band track, i have over lapped the contemplative track with a thunder roll, this is to emphasise that the location of which this film is being recorded at. The use of the contemplative synth track creates a base to the overall Garage Band music, this is to make the music seem very mysterious and unpredictable. This set track was also overlapped with the Borealis track which sounded like repetitive echoes.

The reason why I tried making my own music through Garage band was to try and make a more original sound track to make my overall film making very unique to compliment my filming very well. By using tracks within the theme 'distorted', 'dark' and 'communication' complimented each other very well. While using Garage Band, I have learnt how to create a track though using loops. I experimented firstly using the keyboard mode, I tried to create a conventional sound track through gloomy music but, as I had never used the program before, I threw myself in the deep end a bit to early. By taking a step back, this allowed me to experiment in depth by using loops that were originally made. This allowed me to be able to use trial and error to find what combinations would fit with each other perfectly, this was by trialing with different timings and speeds to see what complimented each other well.
