This film is in fact one of few films which is set within the classic conventions of the horror genre which means it is expected that all conventions are included which is correct.   The location where the film is set is in a lonely out of the way location in the middle of nowhere. This location is used within the classic conventions because they suggest a sense of no help due to the lack of life outside of the house. Its far from the city in a quiet area and there is no neighbours near by. The lack of life means that any suspicious sounds wouldnt be heard.

  The non-diagetic music used within the openning scene of Psycho is past paced and jerky which helps create the unease feeling for the audience to make sure that the movie is very unpredictable when the event/murder is going to occur.
  The beginning of the film starts with a pretty blonde, this is used in the conventions as it is known that blonde women are most likely to become the firt victim in a horror film because it is typically known that blonde women are known as a 'dumb blonde' which means that they wont be as clued up.
  The use of weather at night during the murder is dark, raining and very miserable weather. This is used within the horror conventions to set the scene as rain is used to create a very gloomy atmosphere.

Practise Filming

For the short film, I didn't want to just jump into the filming process without having some sort of practise and to work around with the location (lighting & props) - This allowed me to gain some clips that I can potentially use within the film as well as having some scenes where I can replicate again in the real filming. By incorporating a practise run of filming for the short film, after collecting all clips and looking back, there are scenes that don't particularly fit together that need clips to lead into it.  This has then allowed me to plan out what shots and different camera angles I can use within clips as preparation for the real short film filming. This prep I feel helps analyse where certain faults can occur within the real filming can be prevented before filming.
