My Thoughts On Horror Films

Do you like horror films? If so, why? If not, why not?

Image result for soundI love watching horror films, I love the use of the plots used as well as the scary aspects and events which gives me an adrenaline rush. The feeling of a build up, with the characters feeling at ease as well as the build up made with sound which is called non-diagetic sounds. Non-diagetic is sound effects which is added for the dramatic effect or even a set sample of mood music to create a build up effect which causes me as the watcher to get clammy palms because you don't know whats going to happen next.

What so you think makes a good scary movie?

A good scary movie is made when the plots are set very unpredictably as well as the producer of the movie not fully abiding by the conventions of the typical horror story. This is so then as a watcher, you are fully sure of what might happen next, this is due to the conventions not being fully abided. I enjoy a very realistic horror story because it allows me to potentially feel like im part of the story because it seems real.

Have you ever responded oppositional to a scary movie?

The only film that i felt oppositionally towards was Psycho, this is only because of the typical conventions were shown too directly & it just didn't make it scary, it just made it too predictable & I just really didn't enjoy watching it.

Have you ever had an aberrant reading?

Have you ever been amused by someone who has?

  1. Some interesting thoughts on here so far - but a little worried you are falling behind. Please make updating the research on your blog a priority this week. At least blog the following: the history of horror in cinema; conventions of your chosen sub genre; analysis of two short films from the sub-genre you would like to do. Please also post your short film idea so I can provide feedback..
